Should I use a few large boxes or lots of small boxes for packing?

After you've climbed the stairs a few times you will really appreciate lots of small, not so heavy boxes and fewer large, heavy boxes --- guaranteed.

Any box packing sugestions?

Yes, try not to pack heavy items with light items in the same box. The heavy items are likely to move around in the box no matter how well packed they are. When the heavy items move around they can crush the lighter items.

Any advice on footwear?

Yes, when moving things can drop on your feet. So choose shoes that protect your feet, steel-toed shoes are great, sandals are not recommended.

Any advice on packing order?

If you pack items from the same room or the same drawer in the same box and label the box it will be much faster to unpack in the right place.

How do we know everything arrived if we've got lots of stuff?

Number everything and that way you know very fast if box 73 is missing.

Should I use double wall or single wll boxes for packing?

If the extra cost of double wall boxes doesn't break the budget they are a much tougher, stronger box. Maybe buy a few for heavier or more fragile items.

Are wardrobe boxes worth the extra cost?

Yes, wardrobe boxes are worth the extra cost. When you are unpacking all your clothes and putting them in the closet everything is already hanging on hangers and you just lift them out and hang them in your new closet. Super easy.

What about packing tape?

Very important. Some packing tape does not stick well on the box. You put it on and it seems fine and the next day it has peeled away from the box. Not good. Choose a tape that sticks really well. Buy a roll and test it.

How should I tape box bottoms?

If you can it is always safer to tape the box bottom both ways, horizontally and vertically. This makes the box much stronger.

Where can I buy boxes?

Lowes, Home Depot and Wal-Mart all sell great boxes at great prices.
